Forklift refresher Course Overview

Our Result Forklift Refresher Course covers Counterbalance, Reach Truck, Flexi, and LLOP/PPT operations. It offers a comprehensive 6.5 hours of instruction and is designed to accommodate up to 3 participants. This course aims to refresh and update the necessary skills for safe and efficient forklift operation, conduct pre-use inspections, and identify the factors contributing to vehicle and load instability.

This refresher training is ideal for operators who have documented proof of formal training and are looking to renew their certification to operate counterbalance forklifts. The course includes theory-based learning and evaluation, followed by practical hands-on training and assessment. All instruction aligns with the standards set by the HSE code of practice L117, ensuring compliance and competence in safe forklift operations.

Successful completion of this course allows operators to handle any counterbalance forklift with a lifting capacity of up to 5000 kg (with appropriate authorization) anywhere within the UK.

The Result Forklift Refresher Training Course – Counterbalance is specifically tailored for individuals who have documented prior experience in operating forklift trucks and wish to renew their certification in the safe and efficient handling of counterbalance forklifts with a lifting capacity of up to 5000 kg. Participants do not need to hold a current certification to join this course, and previous certification does not have to be from Result.

As the safe operation of forklifts involves adhering to safety protocols and fully understanding the manufacturer’s guidelines, proficiency in English for reading and interpreting these materials is essential for all participants.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be required to take a short multiple-choice test. The examination includes several safety-critical questions that must be answered correctly to pass.

Once participants successfully pass the theory test, they will proceed to the practical evaluation, which assesses their ability to operate equipment accurately, confidently, and within appropriate time constraints. Various tasks must be completed, such as stacking and destacking, reversing, and accelerating.

The threshold for passing the practical test is 40 penalty points. However, participants may be disqualified for reasons such as hazardous maneuvers, unsafe stacking, or accumulating more than three instances of 5-point penalties in a single category.

Successful participants will be awarded a certificate and Photo ID card, accredited by Result, which will remain valid for three years from the date of course completion.

Participants who successfully complete the course will enhance their understanding of current industry regulations, refresh their competencies, and refine their skills in operating Counterbalance Forklift Trucks with a capacity of up to 5000kg, following the latest approved procedures and manufacturer guidelines. The course outline includes:

  • Overview of the designated forklift truck – Routine Maintenance and Daily Checks
